KOREAN ACADEMY OF OROFACIAL PAIN & ORAL MEDICINE

Korean Academy of Orofacial Pain and Oral Medicine was established in 1972 for the purpose of research and education in the field of oral medicine and improvement of oral medicine-related medical services. Currently, oral medicine is recognized by others both in Korea and abroad as an essential field of dentistry and our academy is the only one that represents oral medicine in Korea.

Oral medicine includes various subfields – oral diagnosis, internal medicine, oral soft tissue and mucosal diseases, temporomandibular joint disorders, orofacial pain, and forensic dentistry. For more accurate diagnosis and better treatment, we are developing a standard protocol that outlines how to apply appropriate examination and treatment.

Annually, we hold the spring symposium in March and the fall symposium in October, and we also hold the essential maintenance education for TMJ accreditation as an irregular symposium. We invite renowned speakers from home and abroad for in-depth coverage and the topics of lectures and presentations are about various research achievements and latest trends, including basic and clinical studies in oral medicine, orofacial pain, temporomandibular disorder, forensic dentistry, and sleep dentistry. We also have time to present case studies and dissertations orally or through posters.

We welcome your visit to our website, hoping that it will be helpful to everyone who visits this webpage and that it will continue to develop as a place for mutual information exchange.
